Sharing Air is based on a book written by Diveheart founder and president Jim Elliott and a Chicago Tribune colleague Kathy Rigney.
Sharing Air is not a documentary. Rather it’s the first feature film made about adaptive scuba and the challenges that people of all abilities face above and below the water. The story is a romantic yet challenging journey of discovery for its characters.
“One of the challenges in creating the film was to make actors into scuba divers and make scuba divers with and without disabilities into actors.” Said filmmaker David Marsh.
The film has been submitted to the Sundance Film Festival, which has never seen a film entry quite like this. It is the hope of Executive Producer Jim Elliott that people watch and share the trailer so that the film has a strong showing as it enters the Sundance Film Festival.
“One in five people have a disability. When you add friends, family, neighbors, co-workers and others, we believe that at least sixty to seventy percent of people will be able to personally relate to this film.” Said Elliott. “In addition to that, I think the romantic story of hope and healing will resonate with viewers”. He added.
“The essence of the film asks the question; how deep will you go for love. Watching the Sharing Air trailer will give you a sense of the journey you will experience when you watch the film.” Added Marsh.
