Liveaboard Expedition Designed Around Nature, Not Schedules
Shark Angels will lead a rare liveaboard expedition May 30- June 6, into the heart of the Sea of Cortez, one of the most biologically productive marine ecosystems on the planet. The expedition is operated in partnership with Seasick Productions and is designed for divers, snorkelers, and ocean advocates seeking unscripted encounters with large pelagic animals.
Exploring “The Aquarium of the World”
Often referred to as “the Aquarium of the World,” the Sea of Cortez is known for its density of life and seasonal appearances of large marine animals. We will be looking for orcas, mobula rays, whales, whale sharks, sea lions and more.
Each day unfolds based on real-time ocean conditions and wildlife movement, allowing the team to follow nature rather than a checklist.
Snorkelers and Divers Welcome. No Certification Required
Unlike traditional dive trips, this journey blends snorkeling and scuba diving, and no scuba certification is required. Certified divers are welcome, but non-divers can participate fully via snorkeling and surface encounters.
This inclusive approach allows mixed-experience groups to share the same expedition without compromising the quality of wildlife interaction.
A defining feature of the expedition is the use of a dedicated aerial spotter plane, a tool more commonly associated with scientific research than recreational travel.
By dramatically expanding the search area for pelagic activity, aerial support increases the likelihood of meaningful, in-water encounters while maintaining ethical wildlife interaction standards.
“This is not a sightseeing trip,” Shark Angels explains. “It’s about witnessing apex predators in their natural environment, understanding their role in the ecosystem, and leaving with a deeper sense of responsibility for their protection.”
Education, conservation awareness, and ethical interaction with marine life remain central to every aspect of the journey.
Departing from La Paz into Baja’s Wild Offshore Waters
Departing from La Paz, the seven-night liveaboard expedition emphasizes conservation education, responsible wildlife interaction, and the unpredictable nature of true expedition travel.
No two days and no two trips are ever the same.
A Rare Opportunity for Purpose-Driven Ocean Explorers
For divers and ocean enthusiasts who value authentic encounters, conservation-first philosophy, and raw ocean exploration, this Baja expedition offers a rare opportunity to step beyond conventional dive travel and into the wild.
