FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: New Documentary “A Dot in the Ocean” Reveals Hidden Waste Crisis Threatening Caribbean Mangroves – Every Purchase Helps Fund Real Cleanup Mission
Film Features Coral View Beach Resort and the Island Community of Utila, Honduras
NEW YORK – August 16, 2026 – Global Filmz Studios and Think Global Media Group have released A Dot in the Ocean: The Utila Project, a feature-length adventure and conservation documentary now streaming via pay-per-view for 30 days at https://globalfilmzstudios.com/theutilaproject/.
The 60-minute film follows a film crew’s journey to Utila, a small island in Honduras’s Bay Islands, where they discovered decades of accumulated waste buried within the mangrove ecosystem – one of the Caribbean’s most important coastal habitats. Rather than simply document the crisis, the team behind the project launched The Utila Project, a community-driven cleanup and restoration initiative.
The documentary also features Coral View Beach Resort, a Utila dive resort offering accommodations, dive packages, PADI courses, snorkeling, kayaking, and visitor services, as part of the island community portrayed in the film.
“Most people will never see what you’re looking at,” the filmmakers state in the documentary. “We could have just documented it. Instead, we chose to do something about it.”
Every purchase during the 30-day premiere window helps support The Utila Project. In September 2026, Think Global Media Group plans to return to Utila to begin Phase One, with a planned scope that may include waste removal, sorting and recycling of recovered materials, responsible disposal of non-recyclable waste, and site restoration, depending on funds raised and available resources. The entire process will be documented for Part Two of A Dot in the Ocean.
The documentary has a runtime of 60 minutes and 40 seconds and is available in four languages: English, Spanish, French, and German, making it accessible to international audiences across the Caribbean, Latin America, and Europe.
