New configuration pairs the Planet second stage with the lightweight High-Performance 62X first stage for a lighter, travel-friendly regulator system
Delray Beach, FL — September 2026 — Mares is expanding its regulator offerings in North America with the introduction of the Planet 62X, a new North America-exclusive configuration that combines the Planet second stage with the lightweight 62X first stage.
Designed for divers who want the performance and effortless breathing characteristics of the Planet second stage in a lighter package, the Planet 62X significantly reduces overall regulator weight compared with the Planet 88X configuration. Depending on the connection, the complete Planet 62X system is up to 29% lighter, making it an appealing option for traveling divers and anyone looking to reduce bulk without sacrificing performance.
The 62X first stage weighs just 464 g / 16.4 oz in DIN and 638 g / 22.5 oz in INT, compared with 786 g / 27.7 oz DIN and 954 g / 33.6 oz INT for the 88X first stage.
The new model is an addition to the Mares regulator lineup, not a replacement for the Planet 88X. Both configurations will remain available, allowing dealers and divers to choose between the lightweight 62X platform and the robust 88X platform based on their diving needs and preferences.
With the Planet 62X, Mares continues to expand its Planet series regulator assortment with equipment designed around real-world diver priorities, including performance, versatility, weight, and travel convenience.
The Mares Planet 62X will be available exclusively in the North American market through authorized Mares dealers.
