Manta Ray Bay Resort Celebrates 40 Years of Diving, Hospitality & Family Ownership in Yap

Manta Ray Bay Yap Divers

Yap, Federated States of Micronesia — Manta Ray Bay Resort and Yap Divers are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2026, marking four decades as one of the Pacific’s longest-running family-owned and operated dive resorts.

Founded in 1986 by Bill Acker, a former Peace Corps volunteer who chose to make Yap his home, the resort began with a simple vision: create a destination built by divers, for divers. What started as Yap Divers has grown into an internationally recognized dive resort known for year-round manta ray encounters, world-class diving, authentic island culture, and personalized hospitality.

To commemorate the milestone, Manta Ray Bay Resort is offering a special anniversary package throughout 2026. Guests who book the resort’s 10-night/8-day dive package will receive four additional nights free, creating a 14-night stay at the price of 10 nights. The package also includes a complimentary half-island tour and a sunset drive featuring coconut cocktails. The offer is available for travel from January 1 through December 31, 2026, excluding MantaFest dates.

The anniversary year will also feature a special celebration week from July 19–26,

2026. Guests will enjoy daily diving and island activities, evening gatherings, traditional Yapese cultural performances, a special banquet dinner, beach barbecue, and opportunities to celebrate alongside longtime friends, returning guests, and members of the Acker family.

“Come dive with me,” says founder Bill Acker, inviting divers from around the world to join the celebration.

As Manta Ray Bay Resort enters its fifth decade, the focus remains unchanged: exceptional diving, genuine hospitality, and sharing the unique culture and marine environment of Yap with guests from around the world.
