HEAD Watersports, distributor and importer of Apeks products in the United States and Canada, is conducting a voluntary safety recall of select Apeks XL4, XL4+ and Ocea regulator second stages, in coordination with the manufacturer, Apeks Marine Equipment Ltd.
The voluntary safety recall applies to affected Apeks XL4, XL4+ and Ocea regulator second stages manufactured between April 2025 and April 2026 with serial numbers ranging from 250402212 to 260402893, inclusive.

During performance testing, it was identified that the affected products do not meet the requirements of the EN250 safety standards. A defect in the spindle mold tool has allowed the spindle assembly to be installed incorrectly. Under demanding diving conditions, particularly at depths exceeding 45 meters/148 ft, this can restrict the flow of breathing gas, posing a risk of inadequate air supply to the diver at depth.
Out of an abundance of caution, all potentially affected units are being voluntarily recalled to ensure they are inspected and, where necessary, corrected.
Retailer Action Required
Retailers should immediately stop the sale, rental, demonstration and distribution of all units within the voluntary recalled serial number range. Retailers should inspect and process all affected units according to the official recall and service instructions. Contact customers who may have purchased an affected regulator and instruct them to stop using it immediately and return it for inspection. Place the recall notice in a clearly visible location in your store for at least 12 months, or until you receive further instructions. If retailers also sell Apeks products through your website, social media channels, or other platforms, please publish the notice there as well. Consumer Action Required
Consumers with an affected regulator model should stop using it immediately. Do not use the regulator until it has been inspected and confirmed safe for use. Consumer should contact original place of purchase, an authorized Apeks Dealer or Service Center. Customers whose serial number falls outside the affected range may continue using their regulator. Anyone who is unable to verify the serial number must stop using the regulator until it has been inspected and, where necessary, repaired in accordance with the official recall procedure.

Affected regulators will be inspected and, if necessary, repaired free of charge by qualified technicians using approved Apeks replacement components.
