NAUI is hosting a comprehensive Avelo and Ocean Reef Instructor Training Program in the Florida Keys, designed for active scuba instructors looking to expand their instructional offerings with cutting-edge dive technology. This instructor-level program combines Avelo’s revolutionary buoyancy-control system with Ocean Reef’s Full Face Mask training, allowing participants to earn credentials to teach both systems in one immersive experience.

This combined instructor training includes three core components:
- Recreational Avelo Diver (RAD) Course
- Avelo Pro Course
- Ocean Reef Full Face Mask (FFM) Instructor Course
Training is conducted through a mix of confined water sessions, open water dives, and instructor-level evaluations. Upon completion, participants will be qualified to instruct both Avelo Dive Systems and Ocean Reef courses under NAUI standards.

Course Prerequisites
All Courses
- Active and insured open-water scuba instructor (where applicable)
- Required eLearning completed prior to arrival
Avelo Pro Course Requirements
- Proof of swim test:
- 400-meter swim in under 15 minutes
- 10-minute tread, final 2 minutes hands out of the water
- Minimum of 10 logged Avelo dives
- Current Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire and Physician’s Evaluation (within one year), signed by a qualified medical professional
Avelo Instructor Candidate Experience
- Minimum of 20 qualifying certifications:
- Open Water certifications count 1:1 (minimum of 10)
- DSD/Try or equivalent programs count 4:1
